ART & DESIGN COURSE

Delivered by Susan Ogier, a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education, specialising in Art and Design at the University of Roehampton, London. Susan is the author of numerous published books, as well as a series of books for children, professional and peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. She is known for her strong association with the subject association NSEAD and for leading CPD events for class teachers, mentors and senior leaders.

Susan has over 20 years of experience in providing training in Primary Art and Design for teachers and working with teaching students. She is able to turn the most nervous and unconvinced teacher into a committed art enthusiast within the first hour!

Primary Generalist Art Course – Teaching Art for Wellbeing – 2 hours – Remote Training

This course is designed for primary teachers and teaching assistants who want to develop their confidence and subject knowledge in Art and Design, in order to provide children with the best possible experience in this subject with wellbeing as a focus.

  • With the promotion of good emotional and mental health at the centre of learning, the course will help participants to understand the wider benefits of providing breadth and balance for all children, enabling them to enhance and enliven teaching strategies through art.
  • It will support participants by offering practical experiences based upon theoretical foundations, helping to develop creative confidence in providing children with opportunities for experimenting and exploring with art materials that calm and sooth.
