PRIMARY HISTORY COURSE

Stuart Tiffany is an experienced teacher, subject leader and history specialist. He runs in-person and virtual CPD sessions with schools around the country on various aspects of teaching Primary History. Stuart sits as a member on the Historical Association’s primary committee and has worked collaboratively with a number of other companies on projects. Recent work includes companies such as TTS, Hodder’s Rising Stars History and Teach Primary. He has presented at numerous conferences for the HA, ALPST and more.

Stuart’s emphasis when delivering training is to enthuse teachers with practical approaches based on a combination of classroom experience and up to date research. In the classroom, history lessons focus on using a historical enquiry led model which uses children’s natural curiosity to engage with a clear sense of purpose.

An Introduction to Teaching Chronology – What is Chronology and how does it underpin the History Curriculum that we teach?

In this session, Stuart will introduce teachers to the importance of spending time developing children’s chronological understanding using the NC14 as a basis alongside academic research and years of experience. There will be a combination of instruction and modelled approaches to teaching chronology from EYFS through to Year 6. By the end, delegates will have clarity over what chronology looks like across the primary phase and how we can use it to connect the children’s growing knowledge-base. The session includes scaffolds and resources to use in school.

This training will be delivered remotely via Zoom.

Date: Thursday 23rd June
Time: 1.00pm-4.00pm
Cost: £45 per delegate
