Working in partnership with Billericay Teaching Alliance and delivered by Rosemary Lovatt

Rosemary is an NLG and led National Leaders of Governance (NLGs) across the East of England and NE London for many years. She is currently Vice Chair of a multi-academy trust. She is an experienced governance tutor, chair and trustee who has supported boards across England and has trained thousands of governors and trustees.

Most people become school governors or trustees because they want to make a difference, but without the right training these good intentions can be wasted by focussing on the wrong things or lacking in confidence and understanding of the role.

Join this WEBINAR over two evenings and leave confident in your understanding of the governance role and how you can be effective and have impact quickly.

Delegates will learn:

  • The fundamentals of the school system and the national curriculum
  • The purpose and three core functions of governance
  • Recent changes, hot topics and latest guidance
  • What you should know about your school to be effective
  • How to work smart and make data work for you
  • How to be strategic
  • How to monitor and hold the school to account
  • How to participate effectively in meetings
  • How to oversee finances and ensure value for money
  • Understanding the statutory compliance and safeguarding duties of boards
  • How to use the latest Ofsted Inspection Framework to establish KPIs for your school
  • How to ensure you are having an impact as a governor or trustee

All delegates will receive an electronic copy of the presentation and supporting materials and resources to help them be more impactful in their governance role, including our monitoring plan and monitoring template, checklists for monitoring the curriculum and example stakeholder survey questions.

Who should attend?
Governors and trustees of all phases.  This is a highly effective new governor INDUCTION, or a REFRESHER for the experienced governor.

This training will be delivered via Zoom.

Dates: Tuesday 10th May & Tuesday 24th May
Time: 6.30pm-8.30pm on both dates
Cost: £75 per delegate
